Today in Black History: March 19, 1894 “The Birth of Moms Mabley”

On today in 1894, comedian Moms Mabley, was born Loretta Mary Aiken in Brevard, North Carolina. She was a standup comedian and actor. Mabley starred in movies, became a headliner at the Apollo Theater, and released comedy albums. She also appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
