Today in Black History: February 18, 2006 “Shani Davis Wins Gold at the Winter Olympics”

On today in 2006, Shani Davis became the first African American to win an individual gold medal in the Winter Olympics. He won the 1000-meter event. In 2010, Davis became the first man to successfully defend the 1000-meter gold medal.
