Today in Black History: February 15, 1965 “The Death of Nat King Cole”

On today in 1965, Nat King Cole died from lung cancer in Santa Monica, California. He was a singer and musician who came to prominence as a leading jazz pianist. Cole was noted for his soft baritone voice. He was also one of the first African Americans to host a television variety show, The Nat King Cole Show. Cole is also the father of singer Natalie Cole.
