Today in Black History: February 9, 1995 “Bernard A. Harris, Jr. Becomes the First African American to Spacewalk”

On today in 1995, Bernard A. Harris, Jr. became the first African American to perform an extra-vehicular activity, which is better known as spacewalking. This occurred during his second mission in space, the Payload Commander on STS-63. The mission lasted from February 2, 1995 to February 11, 1995.
