Today in Black History: January 30, 1965 “Satchel Paige Named All-Time Outstanding Player by the National Baseball Congress”

On today in 1965, the National Baseball Congress named Satchel Paige all-time outstanding player. He became a legend pitching in the Negro league and in Major League Baseball. Paige was a right-handed pitcher and was the oldest rookie to play in the MLB. He was 42 years old, when he entered the Major League. He was also inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971.
