Today in Black History: January 7, 1891 “The Birth of Zora Neale Hurston”

On today in 1891, Zora Neale Hurston was born in Notasulga, Alabama. She was a folklorist, anthropologist, and author. Hurston has published over 50 short stories, plays, and essays. One of her most known works is her 1937 novel Their Eyes Were Watching God. The book was turned into a movie in 2005. Hurston was very prevalent in the Harlem Renaissance era.
