Today in Black History: January 6, 1966 “Harold R. Perry Became the 2nd African American Roman Catholic Bishop in the U.S.”

On today in 1966, Harold R. Perry became the second African American Roman Catholic bishop in the United States of America. White protesters rallied outside of his dedication, while he was being ordained. He served as the auxiliary bishop of New Orleans.
