Today in Black History: January 3, 1997 “Bryant Gumbel Resigned from NBC’s Today Show”

On today in 1997, Bryant Gumbel resigned from NBC’s Today Show after hosting for 15 years. He began working with Today as a sports reporter that gave two weekly features. He eventually became a full time news anchor. Gumbel earned several Emmy’s from his work on the Today Show and has become the second longest serving co-host of the show.
