Today in Black History: December 24, 1988 “Anita Baker’s “Giving You The Best That I Got” Album Goes #1 on Billboard”

On today in 1988, Anita Baker’s third album, “Giving You The Best That I Got” began a four-week run at the top of U.S. Billboard 200 chart. This was Baker’s first number one album in the Unites States, and is still her only number one album. Her singles “Just Because” and “Giving You The Best That I Got” went number one on the Billboard charts. She also received three Grammy Awards for this album.
