Today in Black History: December 9, 1922 “The Birth of Redd Foxx”

On today in 1922, Redd Foxx was born John Elroy Sanford in ST. Louis, Missouri. He was a comedian and actor. Redd Foxx is most remembered for his explicit comedy records and his 1970’s sitcom, “Sanford and Son.” He gained notoriety by performing explicit comedy acts during 1950’s and 1960’s. Foxx was also known as the “King of the Party Records” because he recorded more than 50 records. He is also remembered for his role in “Harlem Nights.”
