Today in Black History: September 4, 1865 “Bowie State University was Founded”

Bowie State University was founded on September 4, 1865. The college is located in Bowie, Maryland and is the oldest HBCU in the state of Maryland. Bowie is also one of the ten oldest HBCU’s in the country. Some notable people who attended Bowie State University are R&B singers Toni and Towanda Braxton, NFL baller Isaac Redmen, and rapper Wale.
