Today in Black History: September 3, 1846 “The American Missionary Association was Founded”

The American Missionary Association was founded on September 3, 1846, in New York. The organization was a abolitionist group founded to abolish slavery, train and educate slaves, and to promote Christian values. The group started with 12 men, four black, and the rest of them white.
