Today in Black History: August 20, 1939 “The Organizing of The National Negro Bowling Association”

The National Negro Bowling Association was organized in Detroit, Michigan on August 20, 1939. Wynston Brown became the first president of the organization. Colored people were not allowed to bowl with whites. The organization eventually changed there name to The National Bowling Association because there members consisted of Blacks, Asians, Native Americans, and Hispanics.
