Today in Black History: August 16, 1963 “The First Postal Stamp Designed By An African American”

On today in 1963, the United Staes Postal Services released the first stamp designed by an African American. The stamp was designed by George Olden. Olden designed the stamp in commemoration of the 100 year anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.
