Today in Black History: August 3, 1957 “Archibald Carey”

On August 3, 1957, Archibald Carey was appointed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as chair of President’s Committee on Government Employment Policy. Carey became the first African American to hold this position. He worked to end employment discrimination in the government against African Americans.
