Today in Black History: July 30, 1863 “President Lincoln Issued an “Eye-For-Eye” Order”

On July 30, 1863, President Lincoln issued an “eye-for-eye” order. The order stated a confederate prisoner will be shot for every African American prisoner shot. Lincoln also ordered, every rebel prisoner to be sentenced to life in prison for every African American prisoner sold into slavery.
